Constanza baquedano
PhD in Neuroscience · Lab Director & Principal Investigator
Dr. Constanza Baquedano directs the Contemplative Neuroscience Lab, where she leads research on mindfulness, psychedelics, and nature connectedness. Her work employs a neurophenomenological perspective, integrating quantitative tools like EEG and behavioral data with qualitative interview methods. She serves as a professor at Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez and contributes to multiple foundations dedicated to human consciousness and ecosystem conservation.
Principal Investigator & Lab Director
PhD Students

AntoNia zepeda
PhD student in Social & Cognitive Neuroscience
Antonia investigates the embodied nature of empathy and selfhood by integrating neurophysiological measures like EEG with first-person microphenomenological interviews. As a doctoral researcher at the CSCN and Empirical 5E Lab, she examines how contemplative sciences transform lived experience and social cognition. She currently supports the academic community as a part-time lecturer at Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez.

Sofía walsen
PhD student in Social & Cognitive Neuroscience
Sofía explores women's health through contemplative practices and female brain health, drawing on her extensive research in mindfulness and nature connectedness. In addition to her doctoral work, she serves as an instructor of qigong and mindfulness.
Master’s Students

Trinidad Pérez
Master’s Student in Social & Cognitive Neuroscience
Trini’s research explores social cognition and empathy by investigating implicit behavioral and electrophysiological responses to animal suffering through EEG and event-related potentials. With extensive experience in psychophysiology and virtual reality, she integrates technical expertise in neural measures with her passion for emerging technologies and creative design.

Florencia bravo
Master’s Student in Social & Cognitive Neuroscience
Florencia investigates how nature retreats and contemplative practices impact attentional networks and wellbeing using EEG and behavioral methods. With broad research experience in empathy, brain health, and psychophysiology, she is currently participating in the BraHEdu Chile–Finland exchange. Her work bridges the gap between environmental contact and cognitive health.
